What is best for me, a dedicated chipper or a wood chipper shredder?
The type of trees that surround your property will determine whether you need either a dedicated wood chipper or a chipper shredder. For example, if you live in a thickly wooded location and your trees shed a lot of leaves that you need to dispose of, you will undoubtedly require a chipper shredder. A dedicated wood chipper, like the Yardbeast 3514, will be more useful if you depart in a more deserted location where you will meet bushes and fewer leaves.
They are mechanically very distinct units. A wood chipper shredder is made up of the following parts:
A dual-feed design. One hopper is dedicated to handling thinner and more noticeable branches. And another, larger, wider hopper whose aim is to hold a large number of leaves and small twigs.
A disk rotor equipped with hammers. The chipper shredder rotor is wider than that of a dedicated chipper, with a series of hammers and/or flails that miniaturize the leaves and twigs. The dedicated chipper typically consists of a disk face with a blade to cut the branches and a set of vanes to force the chipped debris through a discharge.
A screen for sizing. The chipper shredder can be outfitted with various size screens to reduce the shredded or chipped material to the size required by the customer. It is crucial to note, however, that the smaller the reduction ratio, the longer it takes the chipper shredder to process the material.
Can palm fronds be shredded by chipper shredders? Chipper Shredders have a hard time shredding fibrous materials such as palm fronds, bamboo straws, and other similar materials. The fibers will eventually block the sizing screen. If you live in a more tropical climate and are surrounded by this type of flora, we recommend investing in a dedicated wood chipper.
